Are you one of those who often regret compulsively purchasing a product and taking advantage of Amazon’s returns policy to return it within 30 days? Bad news, since the American giant will soon shorten this same deadline for many products.
Change regarding Amazon returns
Indeed, Amazon has started to warn Marketplace sellers of the upcoming change. The return period currently set at 30 days will be reduced by half, and the return of products from customers will soon have to be made within 14 days.
On the Amazon side, we indicate that customers are currently authorized to “ return most products purchased from Amazon and Marketplace sellers (either directly or delivered by Amazon) within 30 days of receipt of the products “. And this of course provided that the products are returned in their integrity and without the slightest damage.
A right of withdrawal which goes from 30 to 14 days
Among the products affected by the new Amazon returns policy, we find very popular items, starting with smartphones, laptops, but also video games (and accessories), without forgetting Blu-Rays, CDs or even cameras.
A few products escape this new rule, notably Smart TVs, Box TVs, but also Amazon e-readers and tablets, which will continue to benefit from a return within 30 days. The new rule should come into force from April 25 in the United Kingdom, and probably on the same date in France.
With this new policy, Amazon is adjusting to the minimum legal period regarding the right of withdrawal in France. “ If you purchase a good or service remotely, you have the right to change your mind about your purchase. This is the right of withdrawal, the deadline for which is 14 days. », Explains the Public Service.
Finally, according to the Consumer Code, the consumer must return the goods to the professional, without undue delay and, at the latest, within fourteen days following communication of their decision to withdraw. We have been warned.
