no more hassles with taxes and certain services

Your N26 account will more easily be able to become your main bank account in France thanks to the arrival of FR IBANs. Finally !

N26 announces news that will please users in France: the neobank now offers accounts with a French IBAN. In other words, if you open an account with N26, it will now be domiciled in France and no longer in Germany. The IBAN will therefore no longer begin with “DE”, but with “FR”.

This is good news for several reasons. One thinks in particular of the obligation to declare to taxes bank accounts domiciled abroad as N26. A step that is always a little stressful for anyone who is afraid of doing things wrong and finding themselves stupidly in violation.

In addition, some services require a bank account domiciled in France to make transfers. For those who appreciate all the benefits of N26, it can be frustrating to have to keep another more classic account in case of need. With an FR IBAN, there are therefore fewer barriers to making N26 your main bank. Some will be able to collect their salary on their N26 accounts for example.

Existing customers are also affected

Jeremie Rosselli, general manager of N26 France and Benelux, welcomes this novelty on its LinkedIn account. “From today, all N26 customers in France will receive a French RIB. Existing customers will be offered option one as well! […] We’ve answered customer request #1: No more friction from other banks, entities or employers who don’t understand German IBANs“, he underlines.

The opportunity also to deliver some figures: “in 6 years, we have gone from 0 to 2.5 million customers and are today in the top 3 online banks in France“.
