The memory industry does anything. It’s not complicated: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64… No question of 24 or 48!

The transition from DDR4 to DDR5 is taking place slowly, as the prices of the latter drop and compatible platforms take hold in the computer fleet. Corsair takes advantage of the new authorized capacities.

Quadruple density for DDR5

Indeed, beyond technical upheavals such as the integration of the power management chip (PMIC) or much higher speeds than those of DDR4, DDR5 promises at least two other improvements.

The drop in operating voltage is obviously very important, but we are here to talk more about the fact that memory modules can have much larger capacities than with DDR4. We talked about it in our article for “ take stock of DDR5 “, it is about a quadrupling of the density. In fact, on a single chip, it is possible to reach 64 Gb against “only” 16 Gb on DDR4.

Kits up to 192 GB!

If memory modules increase in capacity, it means that the modules themselves can too, and Corsair has taken the opportunity to offer kits with unprecedented capacities for the general public.

Through its latest press release, the American company talks about the release of a total of 10 references with memory kits of 192 GB (4x 48 GB), 96 GB (2x 48 GB) and 48 GB (2x 24 GB). Each time, these kits are offered in the Vengeance and Vengeance RGB ranges.

In addition, the various 96 GB or 48 GB kits will be available with a choice of speeds of 5,600 MT/s or 5,200 MT/s. Their release is also effective since yesterday at prices ranging from 194.99 to 399.99 dollars. Corsair confirms that its famous lifetime warranty is still in place. Finally, from next March 6, the American company will distribute its 192 GB kits, still in the Vengeance and Vengeance RGB ranges, but with only one speed available, 5,200 MT/s.
