After the unfortunate episode of Will Smith’s slap at the 2022 Oscars, the Academy decided to create a specialized team to anticipate this kind of incident.
Last year, the Oscars ceremony was rocked by an unexpected event that caused a lot of ink to flow, Will Smith’s slap in the face of Chris Rock.
This year, the Academy does not intend to let such an incident happen again on stage. Interviewed by the magazine TimeBill Kramer, CEO of the Oscars, assured that everything had been done to avoid a new crisis of this type.
“We have set up a crisis cell with a team dedicated to this task. It is something we have never done before and we are ready for all situations”explains Kramer.

The CEO, however, hopes that they don’t have to activate their plans and that the Oscars will go off without a hitch. In any case, he ensures that all the frameworks are in place to anticipate and avoid a new slap crisis.
The Oscars ceremony will be held on March 12 in Los Angeles.
