no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a good external SSD anymore

Often, the memory of laptops is too low or too quickly saturated. An external drive is therefore essential so as not to have to sacrifice precious memories and documents. That’s good, the Samsung T7 Shield SSD is on sale at Boulanger.

Good SSDs, external or otherwise, aren’t uncommon, they’re expensive. It must be said that they are more compact, more resistant and faster than their entry-level counterparts. So we often find ourselves having to choose between durability and low price.

This problem, Boulanger scraps it by slashing the price of the excellent Samsung T7 Shield SSD. This external storage has the advantage of being versatile, simple and very resistant to use. From now on, it can even boast of falling below 100 euros since it is offered at 89.99 euros at the brand, thanks to an immediate discount of 30 euros and an ODR of 30 euros.

An SSD as compact as it is resistant

Opting for an external SSD saves you from tweaking the inside of your laptop to increase its storage capacity. That said, being external, it is also more at risk of suffering damage during transport. Samsung comes up with a simple, but effective solution: an external SSD which is intended to be both compact, resistant, efficient and which did not fail to win an 8/10 in our columns.

The Samsung T7 Shield is positioned as a muscular version of the classic T7. It is adorned with a shell in beige, blue or black rubber, which is rather resistant. Samsung assures that it withstands a fall of three meters without problem. Above all, this SSD benefits from an IP65 certification, which allows it not to fear a passage in the rain, a stay in the sand or a small shower.

Its additional protection does not make it more imposing. A bit larger than the classic T7, the Samsung T7 Shield SSD has dimensions of 88 x 59 x 13 mm (against 85 x 57 x 8 mm). Its weight increases to 98 grams instead of 58 grams. A build similar to that of a credit card that won’t clutter up your pockets or your bag. The T7 Shield SSD can therefore be taken anywhere without fearing for its physical integrity.

Safety first

Connectivity level, it is a USB Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (10 Gb / s) which is offered by this SSD. Two cables are provided: a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable.

As for performance, this external SSD ensures fast transfer of your files. It can reach a speed of 1050 MB/s in reading and 1000 MB/s in writing. Even the largest documents such as 8K videos are no problem for it. Likewise, you won’t have to worry about running out of space with its 1 TB of storage.

Security is not left out since a data encryption solution, thanks to a double partition system, is included in the T7 Shield. You thus have, on a small partition accessible only in read mode, several installation files for the encryption or decryption software. Once the password is configured, Samsung’s software will ask you for it each time you connect to the SSD. Convenient to open your storage even on other PCs without risk.

This is also one of the strengths of this SSD: its great compatibility with operating systems. Both disk and encryption software are compatible with OS from Windows 7, macOS 10.10 Yosemite and Android 5.1. These recognize the disc very quickly and open it without worries.

A price drop below 100 euros

Often sold around 140 euros, the Samsung T7 Shield now displays, in its beige version, a price under 100 euros. Indeed, Boulanger drops the price of this 1 TB SSD to 89.99 euros via an immediate discount of 20% and an ODR of 30 euros.

If you don’t want a beige external drive, the black and blue versions are also on sale. The blue T7 Shield SSD thus goes to 109.99 euros, just like the black SSD. And this, thanks to an ODR of 30 euros.
