The likelihood that Robert Lewandowski will not end his career at Bayern has increased. According to a report, the Pole does not want to extend his contract, which expires in 2023. The question now is: does the record champion still want a fee? Then it would be over this summer.
Striker Robert Lewandowski’s days at champions Bayern Munich are apparently numbered. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, the 33-year-old does not want to extend his contract, which expires in summer 2023. He informed the Bayern bosses last week. Sport director Hasan Salihamidzic replied to the question of whether Lewandowski should still not be allowed to leave after this season: “As I said before: we will have talks…”
In future poker with goal scorer Lewandowski, Salihamidzic recently ruled out a premature farewell to the world footballer this summer. “He has a contract until June 30, 2023,” said the Bayern sports director, adding: “Now we have time to talk about what’s after June 30, 2023.”
There has now been a first round of talks between the German record champions and Lewandowski’s advisor – the “Bild” now wants to know the result. He could go free of charge in 2023 – by the way, Lewandowski also came from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 without a transfer.
If Bayern still want to collect a fee for Lewandowski, they would have to give him up this summer. At the same time, the club is then also forced to track down a successor. Again and again, FC Barcelona was brought into play as the next club for Lewandowski. However, if he is also in the Bayern squad in the upcoming World Cup season, it would be his ninth season in the jersey of the record champions.
