“No one will ever see her”: in a deleted scene from Harry Potter, Draco helped against Voldemort!

There is an alternative ending to “Harry Potter” which concerns Draco and which would have changed everything… The proof in video!

All Harry Potter fans know how the legendary saga ends: with the Battle of Hogwarts. But, as MoviePilot reports, Tom Felton, the interpreter of dear Draco Malfoy, revealed it in his autobiography Beyond Magic: Confessions of a Wizardpublished on October 13: the grand finale against Voldemort could have been completely different.

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the big confrontation between Harry and Voldemort finally takes place and it takes place at Hogwarts with many witnesses, belonging to one side or the other. As you know, good ultimately triumphs over evil and the Boy Who Lived destroys the Dark Lord. But an alternate ending was also filmed, in which Harry’s nemesis Draco helps him achieve victory.

A SIMPLE THROW OF A BAGUETTE

In his book, Tom Felton describes his coming of age in the world of cinema and particularly on the set of films Harry Potter. It is in chapter 23 that he makes this revelation: there is a version of the final battle in which Draco suddenly changes sides and saves the wizarding world by taking Harry’s (Daniel Radcliffe) side.

We filmed the final scene of the Battle of Hogwarts. […] I’ve never been on one set for this long. It was such an important scene that they wanted to shoot it in every way possible to give all eight films the climax they deserved. There were many moments that didn’t make it into the finished film – including a moment where Draco throws his wand at Harry for the final duel with Voldemort. Imagine that! There’s a reel of film somewhere that shows Draco saving everyone, but no one will ever see it.

In the version we know, Draco, called by his parents, indeed sides with Voldemort (reluctantly, judging by his hesitation) and even receives an uncomfortable hug from the latter – an improvised gesture by Ralph Fiennes himself. The Malfoy family then withdraws from the fight.

You can get a very brief glimpse of what the alternate ending would have looked like in the following video, where Drago can be seen screaming “Potter!” while running towards the opposing camp. Epic, that would have been epic.

Even though Harry’s long-time enemy transformed into a more complex character in the later films and was unable to kill Dumbledore for example, he was far from a hero. Perhaps that’s why the scene was cut, straying too far from Drago’s character, although many fans would have loved to see it in the film.

We won’t know for a while if the next Harry Potter series will offer an ending for the character, close to this version. In the meantime, the complete saga can be rediscovered on VOD.
