The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro are barely out that the first rumors around the next smartphone from Apple are already beginning to appear on the Web.

An iPhone 15 Ultra in USB-C next year? The Cupertino company seems to be taking the path.

iPhone and USB-C, soon a reality?

Every year, the question of an iPhone that would finally be equipped with a USB-C port is raised on the carpet. If, until now, the apple brand had always managed to keep its famous Lightning port, it will be forced to part with it from the year 2024. Last June, the European Commission decided to impose the presence of proprietary sockets on smartphones, tablets and laptops sold in EU countries. This decision will be officially implemented over the next 24 months.

Nevertheless, initial rumors suggest the hope of seeing USB-C being adopted by Apple more quickly than expected, namely from 2023! According to information from Mark Gurman of the media Bloomberg, the integration of a USB-C port on the iPhone was part of Apple’s plans, long before the European Union decided to impose it on its territory. At the moment, everything suggests that the Californian giant will take the lead and will offer new iPhones with USB-C ports next year. Either way, Apple would have been required to comply with the requirements of European law before 2024 if it wanted to be able to continue to market its devices.

After the Apple Watch Ultra, the iPhone Ultra?

Make yourself comfortable, because Mark Gurman has come with another juicy piece of information in his bag, as reported to us by the site Engadget. Apple could indeed decide to change the official name of its very high-end smartphones in 2023. The models that we knew until then under the name of “Pro Max” could finally adopt the name “Ultra”. Thus, the next generation of iPhone could give rise to the following range: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra.

As a reminder, “Ultra” is the name that the American firm has rightly attributed to the “high-end” version of its connected watch launched this year: the Apple Watch Ultra. So it could make a lot of sense to see this denomination expand to other devices in the apple ecosystem within the next few months. Moreover, it could also avoid any confusion among the general public between the Pro and Pro Max models, whose name was first adopted in 2019.
