No radio contact – driver wanted to avoid deer: wreck burned out

Suddenly there were three deer in the street: a Romanian (50) tore his car in the Weißenbachtal near Attersee at 3 a.m., got off the lane and got stuck with the car between two trees. He couldn’t get any help at first – insufficient network coverage. Meanwhile the car burned out.

A 50-year-old Romanian from the Leibnitz district in Styria drove his car on the Weißenbachtal-Straße B 153 coming from Weißenbach am Attersee towards Bad Ischl on August 25, 2021 at around 3 a.m. Suddenly three deer were standing on the roadway at the height of road kilometer 6.0 in the municipality of Weißenbach. At a speed of around 80 km / h, he reflexively tore his car to the right to avoid a collision.

Got stuck between two trees
He came off the road and stopped with his vehicle, wedged between two trees, shortly before the bank of a small stream there and came to a standstill. Heavy smoke immediately developed.

No network coverage
The uninjured driver was unable to notify the emergency services due to insufficient network coverage. About 20 minutes later, two vehicle occupants who followed were able to notify the emergency services by finding a suitable place with reception a few kilometers further in the direction of Bad Ischl. In the meantime, the car started to burn and burned out completely. The recovery of the vehicle is today carried out with a crane vehicle during the day.
