No record attempt! – How many people fit in a Skoda Octavia?

Again, it’s a UK video that’s circulating on the internet. As soon as we have calmed down about the masses of cars destroyed in a water-based paint, the next excitement comes: It’s unbelievable how many people get out of this Skoda Octavia. Was it going to Rufford Lane in Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire? Who knows …

The video was released by North Yorkshire Police. Two officers stopped the Skoda and probably couldn’t believe their eyes themselves, given the scene that then took place:

When the video starts, the driver should have already got out. The first occupant you see getting out is the passenger. Then the left rear door opens and someone gets out. Someone else, someone else, and so on, a total of five people crawl out the side door.

But suddenly the tailgate also opens: Two women climb out of the trunk and bring luggage with them too! It is known that the first generation of the Skoda Octavia offered outstanding space, but nine adults in the car, that is already a record. However, all of this was neither intended as a record attempt nor as an advertisement for the Octavia.

In the event of an accident, the whole thing could have turned out badly, although an accident would not have been so unlikely given the condition of the car: A front tire was already worn down to the casing. One does not want to think about the driving behavior of the overloaded load, and neither does people who fly through the windshield without seatbelts.

As an aside, the car was not insured either. And the two doors on the right would not open at all.

The car was confiscated, the driver reported, and the nine people had to continue by taxi. If the Skoda drove through the Internet-famous waters of Rufford Lane in Newark-on-Trent, the damage would at least not be great. Despite total write-off.
