No Small Cars – The top three selling cars in the US are…

Our best-selling cars are all reasonable: Skoda Octavia, Toyota Yaris, Tesla Model Y. In the USA, the top three are all significantly larger, and the US car market continues to be dominated by pick-ups.

The list of the ten best-selling cars in 2022 is headed by three “trucks”: As usual, the Ford F-series leads the trio with 654,000 new registrations, followed by the Chevrolet Silverado with 513,000 units and the Ram pick-up with 468,000 sales. The first SUV follows at a considerable distance: the Toyota RAV4, which we also sell, comes to almost 400,000 units. The Toyota Camry, which sold 295,000 units, is the only sedan among the ten bestsellers in fifth place. The top ten are completed by the SUV and pick-up models Tesla Model Y (252,000 units), GMC Sierra (242,000) and Honda CR -V (238,000), Toyota Tacoma (237,000) and Jeep Grand Cherokee (223,000). There are no German models in the list of ten. After all, the VW ID.4, which has been sold almost 21,000 times, is a German car in the top ten electric cars. This list is headed by the Tesla Model Y, Model 3 and Ford Mustang Mach-E. According to preliminary figures, between 13.7 and 13.9 million new passenger cars and SUVs rolled onto the roads in the USA in 2022. That’s 8 to 9 percent down on the previous year and marks the lowest level in more than a decade. (SPX)
