No time to fool around, Nvidia would draw its RTX 4070 Ti in early January

Faced with an aggressive next-generation GPU offering from AMD, Nvidia has no time to waste on rolling out its “Ada Lovelace” line. The firm would thus bet on a launch from CES 2022 for its RTX 4070 Ti.

According to information gleaned by WCCFTech, Nvidia would launch, from the first days of 2023, new hostilities with its RTX 4070 Ti. The next “premium mid-range” card from the Californian giant would thus be unveiled on January 3 and launched on January 5, the opening day of CES 2023. This launch, if it materializes, would therefore take place less than a month after the release of AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, expected on December 13 across the Atlantic.

As a reminder, Nvidia has already launched its GeForce RTX 4090 on the very high end, on October 12, and must market its RTX 4080 from November 16. It now remains to be seen what fuel the future RTX 4070 Ti will be using.

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti: what to expect?

This new card could in fact take over some specifications from the RTX 4080 12 GB, announced by Nvidia last month before being quickly canceled. There would nevertheless be a different GPU: the AD104-400 with a configuration amounting to 7680 cores and 60 SM.

According to WCCFTech, this GPU would in this case be equipped with 48 MB of L2 cache, and would rely on a 192-bit bus. We would find for the rest 12 GB of RAM in GDDR6X, amounting to 21 Gbps and having a memory bandwidth of 504 GB/s. The GPU would finally be clocked at 2610 MHz in boost, with the prospect of a higher frequency on performance peaks.

Still according to the information collected by WCCFTech, the thermal envelope of the RTX 4070 Ti (TGP) would be limited to 285 W, slightly less than the 290 W observed on the current RTX 3070 Ti. The set could, however, approach the performance of an RTX 3090 Ti.

As for the price, the mystery remains. Some rumors had previously mentioned pricing around $900 for the RTX 4070s. If the performance is there, it would be a relevant price placement to counter the new Radeons mentioned above. The latter must indeed be marketed from 899 dollars.
