No trial month at Dyn: How to test the service for free

Dyn is a new sports streaming service that was founded as a start-up by Christian Seifert, the former managing director of the German Football League, and the Axel Springer publishing house. The company started broadcasting with the DHB Supercup at the end of August 2023. Until now, there was no way to test the service for free. But this is changing at the moment – at least for the time being. We explain here how you can test the streaming provider for free.

How to test Dyn for free

The new streaming service Dyn launched in August 2023 as a new streaming service that wants to focus on sports outside of football. Unfortunately, until recently, unlike many other streaming services, the service did not offer a free trial month. This meant that only customers who had a subscription had access to the many broadcasts.

However, to mark the season finals in basketball and handball, the provider has launched a free promotion. From May 14 to July 16, 2024, new customers can test the sports offering for up to two days free of charge. In addition to the live broadcasts, you can also enjoy the various formats.

Try Dyn without a trial month

There are also a few other ways to try out the service for an unlimited period of time despite the lack of a trial month. The biggest route that Dyn is taking here is its own YouTube channels – there is a channel for every major sport, plus a large main channel. The company says it plans to offer regular, free sports live streams via these channels – this includes, for example, the field hockey Bundesliga, which will also be broadcast on YouTube in the 2023/24 season.

In the long term, other sports will most likely also be featured on the channels. Viewers can expect both live broadcasts and summaries of game highlights.

In addition to the YouTube offering, Dyn is currently entering into many collaborations with partners such as Bild TV and ARD in order to broadcast selected games, for example from the Handball Bundesliga. This way you can get a first impression of the program quality on the free TV channels.

This is how much the subscriptions cost at Dyn

The streaming service Dyn offers two different subscription models for its customers. They do not differ in the features or functions available, but only in the duration: There is a monthly subscription for 14.50 euros per month, which is billed monthly. This allows customers to decide each month whether they want to use the service.

With the annual subscription, a month’s usage costs just 12.50 euros per month. Billing is done annually with a one-off payment of 150 euros. Customers pay for the full twelve months in advance, with the term being one year. After the contract period has expired, the subscription changes to a monthly subscription for 14.50 euros per month, unless cancelled beforehand.
