VIENNA (Reuters) – The safety of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, occupied by the Russian army in eastern Ukraine, has not been called into question by the bombardments which caused significant damage to the inside the complex this weekend, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Monday.

Experts from the UN agency present on the spot “have been able to confirm that (…) the crucial equipment is intact and that there is no immediate threat to nuclear security”, specified the IAEA in a communicated.

Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of bombing the plant.
