Climate activist Greta Thunberg (18) is said to have been proposed for the award alongside ex-US President Donald Trump (74) and Kremlin critic Alexej Navalny (44), as reported by the Reuters news agency.

This year's nomination list should also include Wikileaks founder Julian Assange (49), three Belarusian opposition members, the International Fact Check Network (IFCN), the UNHCR refugee aid organization and the WHO COVAX program for global access to corona vaccines . The "Black Lives Matter" movement was also suggested for the award, as was the organization itself on twitter confirmed.

A select group of members of parliament and ministers from all countries, former award winners and university professors are entitled to submit a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. The proposals had to be received by January 31, the winner will be announced in October. Last year the United Nations World Food Program was honored. At that time there were 317 candidates in the running.
