In Uganda, King William Gabula Nadiope IV of Busoga and Jovia Mutesi tied the knot on November 18, 2023. At the first aristocratic wedding in 67 years, all eyes are on the bride and her three dresses are particularly noticeable.

In the Kingdom of Busoga, one of the five constitutional monarchies in Uganda, the time has finally come again after more than 67 years: A royal wedding is being celebrated! At Christ’s Church Cathedral, in Bugembe township of Jinja city, King Gabula Nadiope IV, 35, and Jovia Mutesi, 31, say “yes” to each other in Anglican tradition. As befits an aristocratic wedding, the wedding ceremony is magnificent. The new queen of Busoga is particularly eye-catching. She chooses not just one, but three special dresses for this special day.

What a dream look! In a white lace dress, the former accountant says yes to the King of Busoga and immediately does justice to her new role as queen with this special look. The bright white robe impresses with timeless chic and a multi-layered skirt with floral embroidery. Three-quarter sleeves and a V-neck made of lace, which echo both the decorations on the skirt and the look of the veil, are reminiscent of a very famous design in aristocratic circles: Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, also made a statement with her wedding dress by Alexander McQueen Year 2011 on high-necked lace that subtly creates a transparent moment.

In combination with the lush train it works Jovia Mutesi’s bridal look is extravagant yet classic. A large diamond tiara completes your wedding look.

Second wedding dress: She relies on pearls and a mermaid cut

Completely different and still royal! At the later wedding reception in Jinja, the bride presents her second look of the day – which is much more simple. Although this is also reminiscent of a traditional western-style robe, it does not have a sweeping skirt or veil. Instead, the mermaid-cut dress emphasizes the queen’s figure and impresses with pearls instead of lace. A hint of a cape on the left shoulder also replaces the particularly long train of the first dress. This was designed by the Ugandan fashion brand Hers, on whose Instagram profile the new queen of Busoga can be seen several times in her special dress.

However, it shouldn’t remain exclusively classic! While Jovia chooses two dresses in white for the church wedding and the first photo session – which would certainly be found at many aristocratic weddings in Europe – her final wedding look looks different. He is black! She poses for official photos with her husband in a tight black off-shoulder dress with a white sash insert. The pointedly used white fabric falls loosely from the hips down, creating a very special look. Diamond earrings and a second, more delicate tiara complete the glamor look.

While the color black is still associated with mourning at European weddings and is viewed critically even when it comes to guests, there seem to be no fashion limits for the would-be queen here. This gives the most beautiful day of your life a very individual touch that also highlights the personality of the bride and groom.
