Nobody Wants to Die: an ambitious neo-noir cyberpunk investigation game announced in video

The studio Critical Hit Games has just revealed its first game, which will be published by PLAION. It is Nobody Wants to Die, an atypical first-person game presenting itself as “an interactive noir novel” which will take us to a dystopian version of New York, against a backdrop of immortality and transhumanism, very recurring themes in the subgenre of cyberpunk.

Nobody Wants to Die is inspired by neo-noir films and will allow us to embody James Karraan inspector investigating crime scenes through the manipulation of time and futuristic technologies, in order to find clues and unmask the killer “at a time when death is a thing of the past”. The title will use theUnreal Engine 5, Critical Hit Games claims to have “pushed the boundaries of storytelling, combining realistic cinematic graphics and a unique narrative experience to provide the player with a seamless, immersive story.” Here are the key points of the game:

  • Welcome to New York, 2329 : Experience a dark adventure in an alternate future of New York City. Technology has advanced to provide humans with eternal life. Consciousness can be stored in memory banks or transferred from one body to another. Provided you have the means to pay the subscription.
  • Conduct the investigation : Follow Detective James Karra, of the Department of Mortality, in his hunt for a serial killer who preys on the city’s elite. Investigate crime scenes using its time manipulation system and cutting-edge technology to piece together the events leading up to each murder. Discover the clues that will lead you to the horrific truth behind the murders.
  • Immersion in a dark world : Immerse yourself in a dystopian future thanks to this rich and original interactive detective novel, which explores the dangers of transhumanism and immortality. In a world where life is eternal and morality disappears, you, a hardened detective, must navigate between good and evil in a society where death is but a distant memory.
  • A breathtaking narrative adventure : Thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5, Nobody Wants to Die pushes the boundaries of storytelling, combining photorealistic graphics and a unique narrative experience.
