Its excellent reputation in the world of PC cooling gave ideas to the Noctua brand. Strange ideas to say the least.
Almost any user who is a little “curious” about their PC knows Noctua. The Austrian company has only a few products in its catalog, but their reputation is almost unrivaled.
Specializing in cooling with some of the best heatsinks and fans recognized for their discretion, Noctua has just formalized the launch of the Noctua HOME range.
A 120mm fan for the office?!
The HOME range does not come out of nowhere, as Noctua seems to have been working on it for several years already, but everything suggested that the firm had finally abandoned the idea behind this series of products: releasing fans Noctua from the PC to refresh the user at their desk.
Well, no, the HOME range is not in the least abandoned, and Noctua has just presented it with, for the moment, a dozen products ranging from the complete kit to the simple fan, including the support, the duct (“ flow amplifier ”, according to Noctua) and various accessories.
Funny idea that crossed the minds of those responsible for Noctua © Noctua
Initially, we were already struggling with the concept of the desk fan, and it was not clear what Noctua could bring to office ventilation. That said, the big problem with the HOME range is its price. Noctua sells the complete kit for 100 euros, the fan alone for 33 euros and the support for 40 euros!
Let’s not make a definitive decision, but it’s hard to see who could pay such sums for this type of product. And you what do you think ?

- Manufacturing quality
- Impeccable bundle
- Very simple assembly
Getting your hands on a compact heatsink is, no pun intended, no easy feat. There are many products on the market, but their effectiveness is questionable. The NH-L9i-17xx is not as brilliant a model as the Austrian brand can offer, but it provides the essentials.
As is often the case, Noctua is not within the reach of all budgets, because if the NH-L9i-17xx sells for less than 60 euros, its technical limits must be kept in mind. It is strictly impossible for it to effectively cool a processor with a TDP of 125 watts and even 105 watts will not be easy.
However, the NH-L9i-17xx is much better than the cooler delivered by Intel with its processors and its remarkable compactness makes it the ideal companion for the thinnest chassis. With the Pure Rock LP, be quiet! does have a cheaper and more effective product, but at 45 mm thick. Obviously, it’s no longer the same thing.
