Nokia: a technological roadmap for 2030

(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia presented on Tuesday the broad outlines of a technological roadmap established for the next seven years and which logically gives pride of place to artificial intelligence.

According to projections provided by the Finnish equipment manufacturer, demand for telecom network infrastructure is expected to grow at an average rate of between 22% and 25% per year by 2030.

At the origin of this dynamism are several innovations such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, extended reality (XR), automation, digital twins and above all the explosion in the number of connected devices, which now amounts to billions of units.

The objective of the plan, called ‘Nokia Technology Strategy 2030’, is to capitalize on these emerging technologies in order to transform and adapt networks, explains the group.

Nokia specifies that growth in the telecom network market could even reach 32% during the second half of the decade if the online video game and extended reality (XR) markets were to develop more quickly than expected.

In this case, networks will have to become more ‘cognitive’ and automated through the adoption of AI and machine learning, he explains in a press release.

More generally, Nokia believes that innovations such as digital twins or Web3 are expected to transform the lives of businesses, society and the planet as a whole.
