Nokia: strengthened portfolio in optical networks

(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia announced Monday that it would strengthen its Altiplano portfolio dedicated to optical networks with the launch of five new applications intended to allow operators to simplify the management of their operations on fiber networks.

Among these applications is a solution for proactively monitoring the health of access nodes and management systems, including trending changes that may impact network stability.

Another solution is to eliminate traditional physical PON testers to validate the end-to-end optical path before connecting subscribers.

A PON capacity planner must also enable what-if scenario analyzes to accurately predict congestion risks and determine optimal advertised peak rates for subscribers.

Nokia explains that these new services appear as optical network operators face increasing complexity in their activities, leading them to resort to automation and virtualized solutions such as SDN to optimize their resources and identify possible problems.
