Nokia: successful connectivity tests with Australian nbn

(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia announced Thursday that it had successfully conducted 10G, 25G, 50G and 100G connectivity tests on the fiber optic network of the Australian operator nbn.

The Finnish equipment manufacturer indicates that the success of these trials proves that Internet service providers can easily increase their capacities to cope with the increase in demand.

Operators can today achieve data rates of up to 20Gb/s thanks to 25G technology, but Nokia believes that the 50G and 100G standards could quickly become established given the growing needs of customers.

According to the group, 50G and 100G technologies could prove particularly suited to business applications, but also linked to the digital city (‘smart city’) or so-called 4.0 industry.
