(Boursier.com) — Nokia And Ericsson lost more than 2% in the morning, victims of a note from Barclays. The British bank downgraded the two telecom equipment manufacturers to ‘underweight’, citing a major slowdown in the deployment of 5G in India and increased risk linked to Open RAN after AT&T’s decision to adopt the technology. “We see investor capital being better deployed elsewhere in the sector,” says the broker. Data on 5G base station additions in India suggests a significant slowdown in the technology’s deployment in the country, with the impact ‘underestimated’. The broker also believes that the resumption of investments in telecommunications on a global scale (excluding China) is “unlikely”.
