With the Nord Buds, OnePlus is expanding its range with a new pair of true wireless headphones that are much more affordable than the Buds Z2 and Buds Pro models. To reach an introductory price of €49, the Nord Buds ignore any active noise reduction functionality and have fewer microphones than the other two models. This does not prevent OnePlus from promising “clear calls” with its new headphones, in particular thanks to an algorithm for attenuating parasitic noise caused by the wind.
The Nord Buds also differ from other models by their slightly more compact design, with a much thicker but still shortened stem. A disc on the stem serves as a touch surface and allows for on-the-fly control of the headphones. OnePlus also promises optimal wearing comfort, even during long listening sessions. Silicone tips of three sizes are also provided for purchase.
Inside, there are 12.4 mm speakers, a rather large diameter for true wireless headphones. Owners of OnePlus smartphones will benefit from unique features, such as fast pairing or a low latency mode allowing a delay of 94 ms in Bluetooth communication. OnePlus also highlights the compatibility of Nord Buds with the Dolby Atmos upmix feature, present on the brand’s terminals. Remember, however, that it is possible to take advantage of this feature with any headset or pair of headphones.
