KIEV, Jan 31 (Reuters) – The Nord Stream 2 undersea gas pipeline project built by Gazprom GAZP.MM between Russia and Germany to bypass Ukraine has been suspended and the European Union is studying its compatibility with its energy policy said European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis on Monday.
The Commission will do everything in its power to prevent Russia from using natural gas as a weapon, he added during a trip to Kiev.
Valdis Dombrovskis also indicated that the Commission would approve a €1.2 billion aid project for Ukraine on Tuesday.
