Actor and comedian Norm Macdonald died of complications from cancer at the age of 61.

Norm Macdonald (1959-2021) died of complications from cancer, as did a spokesman for the comedian, actor and author the US magazine “People” has confirmed. Lori Jo Hoekstra, a longtime friend and production partner of the deceased, explained the industry portal “Deadline”that she was with Macdonald when he died. The comedian was 61 years old.

Apparently his family did not know anything about his illness either

The comedian has fought cancer for nine years. According to Hoekstra, Macdonald did not want to make his illness public and allegedly, family and friends were also unaware of it.

Macdonald was particularly proud of his comedy. “He never wanted the diagnosis to have an impact on how the audience or loved ones saw him,” explains Hoekstra. In North America in particular, the comedian had been a familiar face in the comedy world for decades. Among other things, he was part of “Saturday Night Live” for several years and also appeared in films such as “Billy Madison – A Chaot To Fall In Love” and “Larry Flint – The Naked Truth”. Macdonald runs the “Paste” magazine Ranked 31st in a list of the 50 best stand-up comedians of all time.
