Norma reacts to inflation: what is changing for customers now

Norma is reacting to the ongoing inflation in Germany: As the group announced, they want to take the first steps soon to continue offering customers the best possible prices for the familiar range.

Discounter Norma has announced that it will react to inflation in Germany. As Gerd Köber, CEO at Norma, told “Lebensmittel Zeitung”, customers would pay even more attention to the price in the future. This is mainly due to the rising energy prices, to which everyone now has to react. Discounter Norma wants to continue to give customers the feeling that the company is taking these developments into account.

In order to realize this, Norma has already taken the first steps. The company now wants to focus on the cheap brands for the time being. Well-known branded products from major manufacturers would possibly only be stocked in limited numbers. Because they have already increased their prices for the sellers. You don’t want to keep up with other retailers who offer such items cheaper as part of promotions.

If prices for a product are no longer stable over a period of time, Norma wants to part with the relevant items. According to Norma boss Köber, there is still room for maneuver when it comes to the range. The items that are thrown out due to rising prices will be replaced. For customers, there should only be differences between the brands. It shouldn’t happen that a product is missing.

This regulation should also be applied in the event of possible delivery bottlenecks, reveals Köber. So far, the bottlenecks have been kept low by the procedure.

For 2022, the company has decided to continue investing in the existing locations. Therefore, around 50 million euros should flow into the Norma branches.
