At an “Extreme Martial Arts” festival, North Korean soldiers showed what they can do on Monday. Ruler Kim Jong Un (37) was also there – and was visibly impressed by the show.
North Korean state media released a video from the festival. It shows soldiers smashing concrete blocks with bare hands, lying bare chests on broken glass or having bricks smashed over their heads. A soldier who lets himself be beaten with wooden sticks is also shown.
Another shot shows how dressed soldiers hit their half-naked colleague with a hammer on the forearm or hand with full force. All of these scenes are intended to demonstrate the men’s “self-defense skills”.
North Koreans weapons presentation
The main purpose of the festival was to showcase the latest nuclear and other weapons. Including a super weapon. The academy for defense science has successfully tested a newly developed hypersonic missile of “strategic importance”, the state media reported recently.
In a speech, ruler Kim said he was building an invincible military to counter what he called the ongoing US hostilities. “The US continues to cause tension in the region with its wrong judgments and actions,” said Kim. In the past few weeks, North Korea has conducted several missile tests to identify milestones in its conventional and nuclear weapons program.
For years, Pyongyang has been promoting the development of missiles that not only hit South Korea and Japan, but can also carry nuclear warheads as far as the USA. The country has declared itself a nuclear power. However, in light of the negotiations on its controversial nuclear program, its status is being kept open. However, the US negotiations with North Korea have not progressed for more than two and a half years. (oco)
