SEOUL, Jan 17 (Reuters) – North Korea launched short-range tactical missiles on Monday, the official North Korean KCNA news agency reported on Tuesday.

This is the fourth test carried out this month by Pyongyang, which has already launched “hypersonic missiles” and ballistic missiles.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said Pyongyang had fired short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) from Sunan airport.

North Korea’s Defense Science Academy fired tactical guided missiles from the west of the country, and they “precisely hit a target” off its eastern coast, KCNA said, without giving any details. details.

The tests carried out from Pyongyang in recent weeks have been condemned by the international community, and the American administration has called on North Korea to dialogue.

The Biden administration imposed sanctions on North Korea on Wednesday and urged the United Nations Security Council to do the same.

North Korea defends its missile strikes as a legitimate right of self-defense and accuses the United States of aggravating the situation by imposing new sanctions. (Report Hyonhee Shin; French version Camille Raynaud)
