“Not a fair trial”: Trump requests dismissal of judge

“Not a fair trial”
Trump requests judge’s dismissal

With the call to his supporters to march to the Capitol, Donald Trump is dealing with a momentous court case. However, the ex-president does not believe in a fair assessment by the judge. He would like to exchange the entire place of jurisdiction.

Former US President Donald Trump wants to ask the court to remove the judge in the anti-democracy conspiracy case against him. Trump wrote on his online platform Truth Social that “there is no way he could get a fair trial” with judge Tanya Chutkan. “We will immediately seek the dismissal of this judge on very compelling grounds, as well as a change of venue,” Washington continued the Republican. Washington is a heavily pro-Democrat city with a majority black population.

Chutkan has already delivered harsh judgments against Trump supporters.

Trump is accused of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. On January 6, 2021, radical Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington when Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election was to be confirmed there. Trump had previously called on his supporters to march to the Capitol and fight “whatever the hell”.

Chutkan, 61, was once appointed a federal district court judge by then-Democratic President Barack Obama. She shares a legal past with Trump: in November 2021 she judged a case against him, and she also made tough judgments against supporters of the ex-president who were involved in the storming of the Capitol. She was assigned to the present case at random.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges on Thursday. The date of the trial’s start is expected to be announced at a hearing on August 28.
