After the “K/KF” models, Intel plans many other Raptor Lake Refresh processors to complete the range.
We have known for several weeks now that the 14th generation range of Intel processors – Raptor Lake Refresh – will be deployed in at least two stages.
The first salvo was launched yesterday and, while waiting for the tests of the Core i7-14700K and Core i5-14600K, we have already published that of the Core i9-14900K, the flagship of the new range. The second salvo should not come before the start of next year.
10 cores, 65 watts and up to 4.7 GHz
Such a gap is obviously conducive to all leaks, but we did not necessarily expect such early ones. Indeed, on the Geekbench bases, our colleagues from VideoCardz have spotted a Core i5-14400.
Without the letter “K” at the end of the reference, this processor will therefore have its multiplier coefficient blocked, like all the next round of Raptor Lake Refresh. It is also a model equipped with 10 cores divided into 6 efficient cores and 4 efficient cores for a total of 16 threads. The TDP is 65 watts.
So many values identical to those of its predecessor, the Core i5-13400. There are, however, some differences such as this turbo frequency of 4.7 GHz (compared to 4.6 GHz) and this combined cache of 22.5 MB (compared to 20 MB).
Up to 28% faster than Core i5-13400?!
The interest of the Geekbench databases is that in addition to having confirmation of the technical characteristics of the processor, we have the first performance measurements.
At this level, we note a score of 2,464 points in single-core for the Core i5-14400 which makes it around 8.5% faster than the Core i5-13400. More interesting, in multi-core, it is a question of 13,373 points, or 28% better than its predecessor. A gap that is surprising in its magnitude. Of course, it will be appropriate to check all of this when the time comes.
Remember that Intel has not yet communicated on the release of this second round of Raptor Lake Refresh processors. The latest rumors in this area point to a launch early next year.
The processor market is among the most dynamic in the world of tech, but also the most extensive. AMD/Intel references are numerous and often updated. It’s not easy to find your way in such a jungle: our selection should help you.
