Not only for vulnerable groups: Spahn also recommends Booster before the six-month period

Not just for vulnerable groups
Spahn recommends Booster even before the six-month period

People over the age of 18 should be allowed to receive a corona booster vaccination, even if less than six months have passed after the full immunization. Health Minister Spahn suggested this in a joint letter with Gassen, the head of the health insurance company.

CDU Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn is in favor of giving everyone over the age of 18 a booster vaccination against the coronavirus – even if the last vaccination was not six months ago. “The interval of six months for complete immunization for people over the age of 18, which is provided for in accordance with the approval, is to be understood as a guideline which, of course, does not have to be adhered to to the exact day,” says a letter from Spahn and the chairman of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Andreas Gassen all contract doctors in Germany, which is available to the “Tagesspiegel”.

“You can therefore every patient from the age of 18, even if they do not belong to the risk groups according to the current STIKO recommendation such as older people, residents of care facilities and medical and nursing staff, promptly and before the end of the six months vaccinate at their own discretion, “said Spahn and Gassen.

In view of the rapidly increasing number of infections, calls for faster booster vaccinations have been loud in the past few days. So far, around four million people have received such a vaccination, according to figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
