Report: Police arrest Schumacher family blackmailer

The family of former racing driver Michael Schumacher is being blackmailed. According to a media report, the police have made two arrests in connection with this. This is not the first time that someone has tried to put pressure on the Schumacher family.

In Wuppertal, the police arrested two men who are said to have blackmailed a celebrity. “We are investigating a case of blackmail to the detriment of a celebrity. More than one arrest warrant has been executed in this connection,” said a spokesman for the Wuppertal public prosecutor’s office. No information could be given at this time as to who the celebrity was. The spokesman also did not provide any further details. “We are in the middle of ongoing investigations and cannot say anything more at this point.”

According to the “Bild” newspaper, the victims are said to be the family of former racing driver Michael Schumacher. The blackmailers are said to have demanded millions of euros. The men will now be brought before a judge.

Back in 2016, a then 25-year-old had tried to extort money from the family. But the authorities tracked the man down. A year later, he was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison, suspended. He was also fined, had to do community service and undergo therapy.

Michael Schumacher is one of the best racing drivers of all time. From 1991 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2012 he was active in Formula 1 and won seven world championship titles. His brother Ralf also drove in the premier class of motorsport for ten years. His son Mick has also competed in the world-famous racing series. After his serious skiing accident in December 2013, Michael Schumacher has not appeared in public. His health is not known.
