Alternatively, you can make a makeshift wrench that fits perfectly onto the screw – and it takes just a minute. All you need is:
- a screw and
- a nut that fits the screw
You can now use these two objects to build your own wrench in just a few simple steps. All you have to do is screw the nut onto the bolt until the distance between the nut and the head matches the size of the bolt (see minute 1:49 in the video attached above).
Now you can turn the screw relatively easily. The big advantage of this method is that you can adjust the size exactly as you like. This is especially helpful when you use a lot of different screws in a project.
In addition, it is advisable to make the homemade wrench with the longest possible screw, as this gives you a longer lever, making it easier to screw the screw in or out.
