Aptera wants to highlight its solar vehicles
and to seduce in the United States, what better than to organize a race?

Two models of Aptera, an alpha and a beta, presented themselves on the starting line alongside a Tesla Model 3, also electric … and a thermal Audi R8 GT Spyder. And it was the beta model that won the challenge.

Aptera wins the race

In what looks like a desert circuit possibly located in California, Aptera decided to organize a short race with other car models to show its progress. Over a distance of a quarter of mileor about 400 meters, four vehicles therefore challenged each other, including the two solar models of Aptera, one in the already known black finish and another beta model.

The pedigree of the Audi R8 GT Spyder is dazzling, with 560 horsepower and a 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, close to the 3.5 seconds obtained for a Tesla Model 3 Performance. Nevertheless, it is the Aptera beta model that seems to cross the finish line by a hair’s breadth first, ahead of the R8.

As it is a question of highlighting Aptera vehicles, the firm is careful not to present the characteristics and finishes of competing models. In the meantime, the manufacturer is preparing to produce its first models in series in its new premises of 7400 m² in Carlsbad, still in California, and the least we can say with this video is that they have it under the hood.
