The manufacturer Dynabook, formerly known as Toshiba, is calling for laptop power supplies to be returned or exchanged in the USA. According to media reports, there have already been 679 incidents in which power supplies overheated, melted and even caught fire.

A total of 15.5 million power supplies are said to be affected. Dynabook especially encourages owners of older laptop models to check the labeling of their power supplies. Devices marked “G71C…” are affected. Instructions for checking the power supply and a detailed list of the affected models can be found on the company’s website.

Dynabook offers a free charger replacement for affected users. The company emphasizes that it is essential to take note of the recall in order to avoid further risks. It is currently unknown whether power supplies outside the USA are also affected.
