As expected, Nothing announced on Wednesday its new wireless headphones, the Nothing ear (2). The young British manufacturer is therefore returning to its first love in the field of audio since their predecessors, the Nothing ear (1), were the very first product marketed by Carl Pei’s brand, even before the Nothing phone (1) or the Nothing ear (Stick).

The new new ear (2) resume, without great surprise, what made the success of the brand’s first headphones. They thus benefit from a fully transparent design with an in-ear format, an active noise reduction function and a format with square rods.

In the tradition of Nothing products, the ears (2) therefore retain their largely transparent appearance, allowing you to discover certain elements nestled within the stem of the earphones. This is also the case of the case, a little more compact than on the first version, which keeps a transparent cover while the battery is nestled in a white shell.

More premium features

However, Nothing has not rested on its laurels in two years and has developed new features and features for its headphones. If they keep transducers designed in partnership with Teenage Engineering of 11.6 mm in diameter, they are now designed in two materials: light and resistant graphene for the treble and polyurethane for the bass. The headphones also benefit from three Bluetooth audio codecs. In addition to the SBC and AAC present on the first version, they are also compatible with the LHDC 5.0 codec for Hi-Res Audio Wireless compatibility with Huawei, Nothing, Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus smartphones. They are also compatible with multipoint Bluetooth to connect them at the same time to a smartphone and a computer.

Nothing also indicates that it has improved the level of active noise reduction of its headphones, now allowing ambient sounds to be reduced by up to -40 dB.

For autonomy, the manufacturer has integrated 33 mAh batteries in its headphones – for an announced autonomy of 4 hours in noise reduction and 6.3 hours without. The case – compatible with wireless charging – benefits from a 485 mAh battery – with a total of 22.5 hours with noise reduction and 36 hours without. Note also that the headphones are IP54 certified and are therefore resistant to splashes and dust, as is the IP55 certified case.
