Announced in March and then made available at the end of April on a rather meager selection of smartphones, the Nothing launcher opens up to more models. The beta application that offers a preview of what the Phone (1) experience will be has been updated by the company.
For all smartphones running Android 11
When it was released, the launcher was only offered on Google’s Pixel 5 and 6 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22. A more than limited list of smartphones, which did not include OnePlus – a brand of which Carl Pei is co-founder.
The affront is now repaired, since Nothing announced on Twitter that the application would be offered to a greater number of Android models. However, your smartphone must be running Android 11 at least. Note that not all eligible devices will be able to install the launcher right now, since the Chinese firm informs that the deployment will take place over the next few days.
To celebrate this update, Nothing has also created a page that explains how to set up the launcher on your smartphone. A relatively simple procedure, but which could quickly intimidate anyone not used to delving into the settings of their phone. New wallpapers are available for the most keen on the brand.
However, no real additions to this launcher since its release. It’s still as minimalistic as ever and currently offers a fairly meager experience – a far cry from the expectations we might have had when Carl Pei started talking about his future product.
