Novartis: Shareholders approve dividend hike

(CercleFinance.com) – Novartis shareholders approved on Friday all the resolutions proposed by the group’s board of directors at the ordinary general meeting, which was held today.

The shareholders notably validated the proposal relating to an increase in the dividend, which will thus increase to 3.10 Swiss francs per share for the 2021 financial year, an increase of more than 3%.

This dividend increase – the 25th since the creation of Novartis in 1996 – will bring its yield to 3.9%, ie a distribution corresponding to approximately 57% of free cash flow.

The shareholders also confirmed Joerg Reinhardt as Chairman of the Board of Directors, as well as all the other members who were seeking re-election.

The nominations of Ana de Pro Gonzalo, the former chief financial officer of Amadeus, and Daniel Hochstrasser, a business lawyer, to the board of directors were also validated.

The shareholders also chose KPMG as auditor and approved the remuneration of the board of directors and the management committee in separate binding votes.

It should be noted that the meeting was held without the shareholders being physically present.
