On has never been so family as since Pierre Lemaitre introduced us to his: the Pelletiers.
We saw them disembark, good men, in 1948 in Beirut in The Big World, appeared exactly a year ago, without suspecting that we would no longer be able to do without it. The reunion in Silence and Angerthe second part of the triptych on the Glorious Thirties, is therefore shaping up to be a celebration.
The parents, whose soap factory flourished, remained in the country, while their offspring continued their lives in Paris, apart from Étienne, who died in Indochina. Four years have passed, the barrier of the 1950s with them, and the prudhommesque patriarch Louis Pelletier calls his flock back to Lebanon to begin the annual “Pelletier procession”.
