Novo Nordisk: huge project in quantum computing

(CercleFinance.com) – Novo Nordisk announced on Wednesday that it would provide financial support of $200 million, through its corporate foundation, to a quantum computing project devoted in particular to the development of new drugs.

The program, which will also look at related issues related to climate change and energy transition, is the result of a collaboration between the Danish pharmaceutical laboratory and the Niels Bohr Institute of the University of Copenhagen.

Other establishments will be associated with it, namely the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), the Technological University of Delft (Netherlands), the Technical University of Denmark and the University of Aarhus (Denmark) as well as the University of Toronto.

The 12-year project aims to bring together renowned researchers to design a computer and quantum algorithms to solve important problems in the field of life sciences.

During its first seven years of existence, the participants will strive to develop a platform which will aim, in the last five years of the project, to solve problems that cannot be solved by conventional computers.
