(CercleFinance.com) – Novo Nordisk announced Monday the launch in the United Kingdom of its star treatment against obesity Wegovy, while warning that its marketing would be in “controlled” and “limited” quantities.
The Danish laboratory specifies that the drug, administered by injection under the skin, will be available via approved health professionals and via the weight management services of the NHS, British social security.
With regard to the latter channel, patients will need, in addition to taking Wegovy, to follow a diet and engage in regular physical activity.
In its press release, Novo Nordisk warns that the supply problems it is facing should push it to favor deliveries from Wegovy to the NHS.
Wegovy is a medicine for weight loss and weight maintenance, which contains a substance similar to a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) released by the intestine after a meal.
