In the first semifinals in New York (USA), Daniil Medvedev (25), second in the world rankings, emerged as the winner. The Russian started the game against Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (21) as the clear favorite – and he lives up to his role.
Medvedev only has a bit of trouble in the second, but confidently fends off Auger-Aliassime’s set balls and also brings this set home.
Medvedev is thus in the final of the US Open for the second time after 2019 – he is making himself the first finalist of the last Grand Slams tournament of the year.
Who will be his opponent there is still to be seen. Novak Djokovic, the number 1 in the world, challenges the German Alexander Zverev in the second semi-final. (euc / SDA)
