PARIS, May 17 (Reuters) – Corrosion problems at some EDF nuclear reactors will lead to a “large-scale” program of checks and repairs and their treatment will take several years, the president of the Authority said on Tuesday. nuclear safety (ASN), Bernard Doroszczuk.
Speaking before the Parliamentary Office for the Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Choices, on the occasion of the presentation of the ASN’s 2021 report, Bernard Doroszczuk also indicated that at this stage, the continued operation of certain reactors EDF nuclear power beyond 50 years was not certain.
For ASN, nuclear safety concerns in France must be placed at the heart of energy policy decisions, at the same level as concerns for carbon-free production by 2050.
