PARIS (Reuters) – France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States on Friday called on Iran to respect its comprehensive safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after the he agency said in a report that Tehran had made an undeclared modification to its Fordow nuclear site.

The IAEA explained in a report that Iran had substantially changed the configuration of its centrifuges at its Fordow underground site, where 60% enriched uranium can be produced, without informing it.

“This undeclared modification is incompatible with Iran’s obligations under its comprehensive safeguards agreement concluded in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons”, explain Paris, Berlin, London and Washington in a joint press release.

The four countries believe that Tehran’s actions are “all the more worrying as Iran has ceased to implement its transparency and verification commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action”.

“We call on Iran to urgently implement its legally binding international obligations under its comprehensive safeguards agreement with the IAEA and to cooperate fully with the agency in applying effective safeguards measures at Fordow.” , the statement said.
