(Reuters) – Indirect talks between Tehran and Washington aimed at safeguarding the 2015 deal on Iran’s nuclear program could be reached as soon as possible if the U.S. administration takes the necessary political decisions, Iran’s foreign minister said on Saturday. , Hossein Amirabdollahyan.

“I would like to emphasize here that we are ready to reach a good agreement, as soon as possible, if the other side takes the necessary political decisions,” he said at the Munich security conference.

International leaders and diplomats have been meeting since Friday in Germany until Sunday for discussions on security and defense issues.

Hossein Amirabdollahian added that peace and security in the Middle East was possible, “without foreign interference”.

He assured that Iran was ready to exchange prisoners with the United States, on humanitarian grounds, and unrelated to the negotiations on the Vienna agreement.

“If the nuclear talks … fail in Vienna, the Western powers will be responsible, because we want a good deal,” he said.

Representatives of Germany, China, France, Britain, Iran and Russia are taking part in the talks, with coordination from the European Union.
