Numerical majority: the Senate should validate the bill this Thursday

A numerical majority is about to be adopted in France. After the unanimous vote of the National Assembly on Wednesday, the bill brought by Laurent Marcangeli, boss of the Horizons deputies, only has to obtain the agreement of the senators this Thursday, June 29. Which should be just a formality. The text includes an article fixing the numerical majority at 15 years, the minimum age for registration on social networks and their use without parental authorization. Below this age, the text is intended to be binding with parental consent to be provided to the platforms. Platforms that will have to use age verification techniques in line with Arcom and Cnil expectations. It should also be noted that the amendment aimed at authorizing registration for those under 15, without control, on certain platforms “labeled” by the State has been deleted. As for the date of entry into force of the text, it is still uncertain.
