The Graphic card
the most powerful of the moment, but which also risks being very quickly exceeded.

After having swelled considerably at the end of last year, the blow had fallen when NVIDIA finally did not take advantage of CES 2022 in Las Vegas to unveil the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.

A few weeks behind the rumored schedule, the latest model of Ampere cards is finally among us… finally among the fortunate among us.

One ” dream as a content creator?

In a few lines, a few paragraphs, NVIDIA has finally taken the time to clarify the situation around its GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, a new graphics card that it is obviously not intended for ordinary mortals.

The beast incorporates a record number of CUDA cores (10,752) to assert itself as the most powerful model in the Ampere architecture. It displays a total power of 78 RT-TFLOPs, 40 Shader-TFLOPs and 320 Tensor-TFLOPs as NVIDIA likes to point out.

The manufacturer also insists on performance against particularly demanding applications such as Blender, Maya or Cinema4D, but surprisingly enough, it is compared to the RTX 2080 Ti: it is a question of offering between 42% and 102% of the performance of this dated model, to say the least.

NVIDIA also points out that its 24 GB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps ensures remarkable results before specifying that ” working on 8K RAW projects in DaVinci Resolve with REDCODE files, Raw (R3D) uses most of the 10 GB of available memory on the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti “.

Towards video games in 8K?

While rare are the games to bring the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti to its knees, NVIDIA goes further to discuss the playful future of its little news. It is therefore no longer a question of praising the game in 3,840 x 2,160 and NVIDIA is now talking about playing in “8K HDR”.

With this in mind, the manufacturer does not have words strong enough to salute the merits of its super-sampling solution, DLSS. He adds that the RTX 3090 Ti “ allows you to play, capture and watch your games in 8K HDR with DLSS Ultra Performance mode and HDMI 2.1 for unique connectivity to 8K TVs “.

In terms of performance figures, NVIDIA is once again having fun making the comparison with the old RTX 2080 Ti and indicates that on average, the RTX 3090 Ti is 64% faster. Fortunately ! NVIDIA still compares its newcomer to the RTX 3090 and points out that it is, still on average, 9% faster than the old queen Ampere.

Finally, NVIDIA confirms that the card should be available now with, in particular, the distribution of its Founders Edition in partnership with LDLC: this model costs 2,249 euros. NVIDIA finally specifies that “ global general availability today has been impacted by the latest wave of Covid and lockdowns in China “adding that” availability will improve during the month of April “.
