To everyone’s surprise (no), the RTX-4090 is already sold out, either for lack of inventory or through scalpers.

To try to circumvent the problem, NVIDIA has set up a system called “verified priority access”.

A very closed group to counter scalpers

Barely hours after its rollout, NVIDIA’s highly anticipated/controversial flagship Ada Lovelace graphics card was taken by storm. Stocks have indeed melted like snow heated by the RTX 4090, either because they were not sufficient, or because scalpers were still rampant.

Inspired by a program developed by EVGA (which last month decided to shun NVIDIA and completely stop the production of graphics cards), the chameleon brand is developing a verified priority access system.

The idea is, as the name suggests, to reserve a product, even if it is not in stock. When this changes, registrants join a queue to acquire the desired product within a fairly short window of time. This program is currently being tested with a hand-picked list of resellers. These include LDLC in France, Best Buy in the United States and NBB in Germany.

But there is still an additional condition, sine qua non : to enter this closed group of verified priority access, you must have a GeForce graphics card, from the GTX 10 series to the RTX 30 series, and be registered on GeForce Experience. It is also through this application that interested parties will be informed of the availability of an NVIDIA card, which will then send them to the page of a sworn brand.

Will all these measures be enough to leave voracious scalpers hungry? Nothing is even less certain.
