3DMark continues to welcome new tests, the most recent incorporating the DLSS-3currently exclusive to graphics cards RTX40.
After Intel XeSS, it is therefore the turn of the third iteration of NVIDIA’s super-sampling technology to be tested on UL’s benchmark tool.
Earn points on 3DMark thanks to DLSS 3
Similar to the recently arrived 3DMark test for Intel XeSS, the DLSS 3 benchmark feature will compare two scenes, one using NVIDIA technology and the other not.
Of course, it will be necessary to have an RTX 4090 graphics card or the same generation to test the DLSS 3. However, the DLSS 1 and 2 versions have not been left out and are also part of the tool.
As with the use of NVIDIA technology in-game, the new test dedicated to DLSS on 3DMark also allows you to choose between three different modes: Quality, Performance and Ultra Performance. The resolutions proposed to operate various comparisons range from Full HD to 8K.
A new generation of testing?
The other key feature of this new test is called DLSS Frame Generation. This offers to test a whole cocktail of NVIDIA technologies. The idea of this tool is, as its name suggests, to generate high quality images with the help of DLSS artificial intelligence.
These images are also powered by NVIDIA Reflex, while taking advantage of the new optical flow accelerator and Tensor Cores built into NVIDIA RTX 40 generation graphics cards.
Since this test dedicated to DLSS is operated on the Port Royal scene already present in 3DMark, its integration is free for any holder of the software and the aforementioned extension. Those who purchased 3DMark before January 8, 2019, however, will have to purchase Port Royal, for an additional 2.49 euros.
For others, it will be necessary to acquire the latest version of 3DMark, displayed at 29.99 euros on Steam or the UL site. But given the prices and the relative availability of the RTX 40s, we bet that few users will see any use for this new test for a while.
