Obi-Wan Kenobi: That’s how cruel the Inquisitors used the corpses of the Jedi for their purposes!

In “Obi-Wan Kenobi” a logic gap from “Star Wars Rebels” is clarified. This also shows how cruelly the Inquisitors use the Jedi corpses.

  • In “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, Obi-Wan realizes that the Inquisitors’ stronghold is a tomb for Jedi.
  • The Star Wars Rebels animated series shows how the Jedi corpses are used to lure Jedi into a trap.
  • Any Jedi caught by the Inquisitors is taken to the fortress and tortured (and then, more often than not, killed).

The Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is gradually providing more and more information about the time after Order 66. In the fourth episode it has now been revealed that the Inquisitors’ stronghold is a burial ground for Jedi, which is a small logic gap from the Animated series “Star Wars Rebels” clarifies and shows how cruel the Inquisitors are.

“Star Wars Rebels” takes place in the “Star Wars” chronology around five years after “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and the Sith Inquisitors still play an important role there. They hunt down the Jedi who survived Order 66, and that’s where the Jedi corpses come in, preserved in the fortress as trophies.

We already suspected that the Jedi corpses are kept by Emperor Palpatine to use their midi-chlorian rich blood for Force-sensitive clones. But in the fifth episode of “Star Wars Rebels” the corpse of Jedi Master Luminara Unduli is used in a completely different way.

When rumors spread that the Jedi Master survived Order 66, Ezra Bridger and his master Kanan Jarrus set out to free her from the clutches of the Empire. However, it turns out to be a trap and Luminara is long dead.

The Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend in “Obi-Wan Kenobi”) targeted Luminara’s corpse when the rumor spread that Luminara had survived. Thus, inquisitors use the rumor mill and lure the Jedi into a trap.

In the case of the children’s series, few viewers thought about it, but actually it seems quite unlikely that such a rumor would arise and that the inquisitors would just have the corpse of exactly that person “lying around” to set such a trap.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” now clarifies why the inquisitors were able to react so quickly to the rumor and “accidentally” just had Luminara’s corpse ready: they keep all the Jedi corpses. Some fans even claim they spotted Mace Windu’s body in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Why Luminara’s body hasn’t appeared in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is an intriguing question. It is possible that the master actually survived Order 66 and was only caught later – in the five years between the series. If so, Luminara could appear in upcoming episodes. Let’s wait!

The new episodes of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” appear every Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Disney+ New Releases program. After the finale, which will be released on June 22, 2022, we can look forward to more “Star Wars” releases in 2022!
